Every holiday sale — Black Friday, Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year — runs the same five moments: tease it, launch it, remind, close it, thank people. What changes is the wording, and the wording is the part that eats your week. So here it is, written for you.

Below are 43 fill-in-the-blank holiday sale announcement templates: 20 for social media, 14 full emails (subject, preview and body), and 9 for SMS, your website, WhatsApp and Google. Copy a template, fill the [brackets] with your offer and dates, adjust the first line to sound like you — and the announcement is done. A holiday calendar and a quick-pick table below help you grab the right template at the right moment.

How to Use a Template Without Sounding Copied: 5 Steps

Step 1: Fill every bracket before you touch anything else

Offer, dates, code, link, cutoff — go through the template once and replace every [bracket] with your real details. A template posted with a leftover bracket, or a wrong date, is worse than no post at all, because it tells customers the shop is not paying attention during its biggest week.

Step 2: Make the offer line impossible to misunderstand

One announcement carries one offer. State it as number + scope + end: “[40%] off everything, until Sunday midnight.” If a reader has to open the post or email to learn what the deal is, the announcement has failed at its only job.

Step 3: Rewrite the first line in your own voice

Templates give you structure, not personality. Keep the bones and swap the opening line for the way your business actually talks — the joke your regulars expect, the greeting your town uses. The first line is where a copied template stops sounding copied.

Step 4: Match the template to the moment

Teaser, live, last chance and thank-you are four different jobs. The most common template mistake is using a launch announcement for a reminder, so the post says “starts now” on the final day of the sale. Check the date and the stage before you post, every time.

Step 5: Add the one detail only you can add

A real stock count, your actual shipping cutoff, a thank-you that names your team — one true detail turns a template into your announcement. It is also the detail competitors cannot copy, because it is only true for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which holidays do these templates work for?

Any dated sale. The social list includes ready variants for Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year, and the stage templates — teaser, live, last chance, extension, thank-you — fit Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday as well: just name your sale in the [Sale Name] bracket. For Black Friday specifically, our separate Black Friday announcement examples add day-by-day wording for that weekend.

How many announcements does one sale need?

Four to five touchpoints across the whole run is a complete set for most small businesses: a teaser, the live announcement, one mid-sale spotlight or gift guide, a last chance, and a thank-you. More than that only works if each post carries new information — a new product, a real stock update, an extension — rather than the same offer in fresh words.

When should I post the teaser announcement?

Three to seven days before the sale starts is the useful window: close enough that people remember, early enough that they can plan and join the list for early access. Bigger sales with early access deserve the full week; a two-day flash sale needs only a day of teasing. The countdown story set belongs in the final three days.

Can I use the same template for social media and email?

Use the same structure, not the same length. The social post is the short version: offer, dates, one perk, link. The email adds the parts a post cannot carry — bestsellers to start from, the shipping cutoff, the honest deadline. The SMS is the shortest of all: offer plus link, nothing else. Writing all three from one template keeps the message identical while the detail grows.

What if my business does not do discounts — services, bookings, events?

Swap the offer bracket for your perk instead: a free consultation week, a bonus treatment with December bookings, priority holiday slots, a gift card bonus. The templates are shaped by stage (tease, launch, remind, thank), not by percentage — a salon, a clinic or a coach can run every one of them without cutting a single price.

Should the discount code go inside the announcement itself?

If a code is needed to get the offer, yes — print it in the post and the email, in plain sight. Making people hunt for a code costs more sales than any sharing of the code ever will. If the discount applies automatically, say “no code needed” loudly instead; it is a selling point, not a detail.

How do I announce a sale extension without looking desperate?

Frame it as an answer, not a plea: customers asked, carts were left, so the sale stays one more day — and give the new deadline in the same breath. Announce it once, on the day the extension starts, with the same offer (not a bigger one, which punishes everyone who bought on time). Then end when you said you would; the credibility of the last-chance posts of next year is built here.

Go deeper on the biggest weekend: our Black Friday sale announcement examples and templates cover that sale moment by moment, and the Small Business Saturday captions pair with Template 17 for Nov 28.
